Baseball Wins Third Straight, Takes Down Valparaiso

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Mike Hubbard (Braintree, Mass.) had three hits to help Boston College defeat Valparaiso 13-1 Monday (March 6) for the Eagles' third consecutive victory in Fort Myers, Fla. BC is now 5-2 overall. The two teams square off Tuesday (March 7) at 3:30 p.m.
Andy Sullivan (Winchester, Mass.) picked up his second win (2-0), allowing no runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in six innings of work. The senior co-captain has not permitted an earned run in 11.0 innings this season.
Hubbard went 3-for-4 with two runs,two RBIs and one free pass. Sophomore catcher Jeff Mackor (Salem, N.H.) hit his third home run of the season. Yesterday's round-tripper brought home three runs. Neal McCarthy (Warwick, R.I.), Eric Olson (Oakland, Calif.) and Mike Gambino (Garrison, N.Y.) each picked up a pair of hits for the Eagles.
BC posted four runs in each of the first and fifth innings. They drove in three runs in the third while surrendering one run on defense in the bottom half of that inning.
