As a SOPHOMORE- (2012-2013): Emily joined the swim team...She swam on the travel squad, competing in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle... was the Outstanding Performer at the New England Catholic Invite... chosen for the Outstanding Performance at the Bryant and Boston U meets... She later made the ACC team and was chosen as the Outstanding Performer there for BC... got personal bests in all three events - 50 free (24.10), 100 free (51.72) and 200 free (1:53.93)... At the end of the year, she was voted Most Valuable Performer by her teammates.
BEFORE BC: Attended Wayland High School in Wayland, MA. Member of undefeated varsity swim team all four years. Captain 2010-2011 season. Three time All-American. Varsity record holder. Three year Boston Globe and Boston Herald AllScholastic.
PERSONAL: Emily is the daughter of Ben and Jeanne Downs. She has an older brother who attends Harvard University and two younger sisters, a senior in high school and a sophomore in high school. She is enrolled in the Lynch School of Education.
