AS A SOPHOMORE (2013-2014): Competed in mid-distance freestyle events... Recorded season-best times at the Terrier Invitational in the 100, 200, and 500 freestyle and a college-best time in the 100 breaststroke.
BEFORE BC: I'm from right outside of Washington D.C. in Bethesda, MD. I attended Connelly School of the Holy Child in Potomac, MD where I was a varsity swimmer and Scholar Athlete for all four years of high school. I was team captain my senior year, and received the Rookie of the Year award freshman year, MVP my freshman through junior years, and the Coaches Award my senior year. I currently hold the school record in the 200 freestyle, which I broke my junior year. I also swim for the Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club (RMSC), and have been since I was 8. My best events are the 200 and 500 free, but I often swim 200 IM, 100 free, or 100 breast as well.
PERSONAL: . My parents are Greg and Lisa Popera, and I am the oldest of 4 children. My sister, Alexa (16), goes to Holy Child and is also a swimmer, and my brothers, John (12) and Teddy (4), swim summer league but also like playing football and lacrosse. I also have a dog named Comet.
