April 30, 2026 | Softball
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College softball team (13-35, 3-18 ACC) will host No. 10 Florida State University (43-8, 18-3 ACC) this weekend for their final 2026 ACC series.
First pitch is set for 4 p.m. on Friday night and can be found on ACCNX. Saturday and Sunday's games will be broadcast on ACCN at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The team will recognize their four seniors Halie Pappion, Janis Espinoza, Meghan Schouten and Maycee Hilt on Saturday before the game.
Last Time Out
Boston College dropped all three games in South Bend against the Fighting Irish.
Alyx Rossi led the way in the circle on Saturday, throwing her first complete game of the season with three strikeouts while allowing just one hit. At the plate, Adriana Martinez stood out as the only Eagle to record a hit in all three games.
PTAK ATTACK!
Abby Ptak continues to lead Boston College at the plate, pacing the team in batting average (.379), doubles (14), and hits (58).
She is now tied for third in program history for single-season doubles with 14 and counting. With a hit against Notre Dame, Ptak also broke into the single-season top 10 for hits, currently sitting 10th with 58.
The sophomore is also on pace to enter Boston College's single-season top 10 in batting average, needing to maintain a mark above .366 over the remaining games.
Good Knight
Freshman Emma Knight is off to an impressive start to her career, leading the team with 38 RBI and a .619 slugging percentage while totaling 47 hits.
With her 38th RBI of the season, Knight has moved into Boston College's single-season top 10 for RBI, marking her second program record of the year.
She has recorded 13 multi-RBI games this season, continuing to be a consistent run producer for the Eagles. Knight is also climbing the single-season home run leaderboard with 12 on the year, now sitting sixth all-time in program history.
Following the UNC series, Knight etched her name into the record books as just the sixth Eagle to hit two home runs in a single game. In that same performance, she tallied seven RBI, tying Hall of Famer Tatiana Cortez, the last time the mark was reached in 2017.
AD! AD!
Martinez is currently on an 11-game hitting streak, the longest active streak on the team, sitting just behind Ptak with a .333 batting average.
She has totaled eight home runs this season, including a grand slam in a win over Pitt, and has recorded seven multi-RBI games.
Sneaky Sammy
Sammy Horn has primarily held down the leadoff spot this season and is batting .310 across 158 at-bats. She has been one of the toughest Eagles to retire, striking out just 18 times. Horn has also recorded six of the team's 31 sacrifice hits and has totaled 49 hits on the year, second most on the roster.
Teamwork Dreamwork
As a team, the Eagles are making their mark in the record book, currently sitting in the top 10 in six single-season categories. They rank second in on-base percentage (.355), third in slugging percentage (.421), fifth in batting average (.277), eighth in walks drawn (141), and 10th in runs scored (214).
Following the Notre Dame series, Boston College has also hit 37 home runs, moving into sixth place in the single-season record book.
The Eagles are within striking distance of more top 10 marks, needing just three more hits and three doubles, along with five RBI, to continue rewriting the program's record book.
Scouting FSU
The Eagles are 4-49 all-time against the Seminoles, with their last win coming on the road in 2022.
Florida State enters the matchup ranked No. 10 in the ESPN/USA Softball poll, the highest-ranked ACC team, and sits atop the conference standings with an 18-3 record. The Seminoles are coming off a 3-4 midweek loss to No. 8 Florida on the road.
Offensively, Isa Torres has been dominant, leading not only Florida State but the nation with a .588 batting average. She is one of just four players hitting over .500 and also leads the ACC in hits (82), assists per game (2.26), on-base percentage (.618), total bases (156), and triples (6).
In the circle, the Seminoles boast a strong pitching staff with two arms holding ERAs under 2.30. Jazzy Francik leads the staff with 117.2 innings pitched and a 2.02 ERA, while Ashtyn Danley follows with a 2.28 ERA.
