Lacrosse Downs No. 2 Stanford in Thrilling Win

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College lacrosse earned a thrilling 13-11 win over No. 2 Stanford on Thursday evening at Alumni Stadium.
With the victory, the Eagles improve to 6-5 overall and 5-3 in ACC play, securing their highest-ranked win of the season. The Cardinal fall to 10-1 and 6-1 in the league.
Shea Dolce made 10 saves on the night, including seven in the second half. Her stop with two minutes remaining preserved a 12-11 BC lead before Hanna Davis sealed the game with her second goal, helping BC hand Stanford its first loss of the season.
The teams entered the fourth quarter tied at 9-9 before Giulia Colarusso gave BC the lead early in the frame. Just over a minute later, she connected with Kylee Colbert to extend the advantage to 11-9. The teams traded goals down the stretch, with BC maintaining its edge behind key late plays from Davis and Dolce.
In a back-and-forth contest featuring six ties and seven lead changes, neither side led by more than three goals. BC opened the game with a 3-0 start, with Marissa White factoring into all three scores with two goals and an assist.
Stanford answered with a 5-0 run spanning into the second quarter to take a two-goal lead. Caroline Chisholm halted the run with her lone goal, sparking a three-goal stretch that put BC back in front, 6-5. After the visitors evened the score, Colarusso struck just before halftime to give the Eagles a 7-6 lead.
The Cardinal regained the lead midway through the third with two straight goals, but Molly Driscoll responded with back-to-back scores to put BC ahead, 9-8. Stanford answered once more to tie the game heading into the final quarter, setting the stage for the exciting finish.
Boston College returns to action Monday, opening a three-game road trip at UAlbany with a 3 p.m. matchup.
