Lacrosse Drops ACC Opener to No. 16 Notre Dame

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – No. 3 Boston College lacrosse fell to No. 16 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 12–9, on Friday evening at Fish Field House in the ACC opener.
The Eagles fall to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in ACC play, while Notre Dame improves to 3-0 and 1-0 in the league.
Marissa White led the way offensively, tying a game-high with three goals for her first hat trick of the season. Hanna Davis totaled a career-high three points with a goal and two assists and led the team with three ground balls. Kelly Blake added two assists, while Molly Driscoll was the second Eagle with multiple goals, scoring twice.
Shea Dolce made a season-high 14 saves with a .538 save percentage. Shea Baker led the team with six draw controls and added one ground ball and one caused turnover.
Notre Dame jumped out to a 3–1 start in the first 4:43 of the opening quarter before Driscoll sparked a 3-0 run that was capped by a White goal, giving BC a 4–3 advantage after the first.
The run continued early in the second as Driscoll scored her second of the half, followed by Davis finding a cutting White for a behind-the-back finish to make it 6–3. After ND stopped the 5-0 surge, Giulia Colarusso pushed the lead back to three before the half, 7–4.
The two foes traded goals in the third quarter, leading to what was a three-score cushion after a Brooke McLoy goal gave her team a 9-6 edge going into the final frame.
Notre Dame took control in the fourth, outscoring BC 6-0. The Fighting Irish took a 10–9 lead with 10:10 remaining and added two more to seal the win.
Boston College returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 21 against the Michigan Wolverines at the Atlanta Lacrosse Invitational in Atlanta.
