BC Drops ACC Road Contest to No. 22 Clemson

Hastings logs a career-high six blocks; Payne adds 20 points
CLEMSON, S.C. - Boston College dropped its road contest against No. 22 Clemson by a score of 74-50 Tuesday evening. Fred Payne led with 20 points, while Boden Kapke and Jayden Hastings contributed nine points each.

- Fred Payne opened the scoring with a pull-up three-pointer, followed by a Luka Toews three to give the Eagles a 6-2 lead. Clemson responded with three straight scores to take a two-point lead into the first media timeout
- The Eagles held a 16-13 edge with 10:54 remaining before the Tigers used a 16-2 scoring run to take a double-digit lead
- Jayden Hastings scored twice, and Boden Kapke added a hook shot to trim the deficit to five before Clemson responded with two three-pointers to restore an 11-point lead
- The Tigers would take a 37-27 lead going into halftime
- Clemson opened the second half on a 9-2 scoring run, eventually pushing the lead to 54-33 midway through the second half
- Payne scored BC's next eight to make it 41-60 going into the final 10 minutes of the contest.
- The Tigers outscored the Eagles 14-10 in the remaining minutes, as they would go on to take a 74-50 decision.
- Fred Payne led the Eagles with 20 points. It is the third straight game he has recorded 20 points
- Jayden Hastings recorded six blocks, a career high and the first time a BC player has done so since Quinten Post (2/13/24)
- BC moves to 10-23 all time against Clemson
WHAT'S NEXT
- Boston College welcomes Syracuse for a weekend contest at Conte Forum on Saturday, January 17.
- Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. and will be available on ACCN and heard on WEEI 850.
- Saturday's meeting will be the 88th overall meeting between the Eagles and Orange. Syracuse holds a 60-27 all-time series lead.
- Boston College has played Syracuse more than any ACC opponent.
