April 29, 2025 | Softball
BC hit three home runs, the second time they've done so this season
STORRS, Conn. – Boston College Softball (22-26, 5-16 ACC) picked up a 10-5 midweek victory of the UConn Huskies at Burrill Family Field on Tuesday evening.
The Huskies got on the board first in the top of the first inning, but the Eagles quickly claimed a 2-1 lead in the top of the second thanks to Kali Case knocking in Zoe Hines and Jordan Stephens. UConn would go back on top in the bottom of the third inning, before Hines homered to left field to tie the game at three a piece.
In the top of the fifth inning, Tavye Borders notched her first career hit and was subsequently driven in by Emma Jackson, who launched her second home run of the season over the right field wall. Continuing the inning, Gator Robinson drew a walk, scoring three batters later thanks to a Zoe Hines sacrifice fly. Makenna Segal closed out the productive top of the fifth inning with a two-RBI single to center field, scoring Janis Espinoza and Hannah Slike.Â
The Huskies narrowed the gap to three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning behind a pair of home runs, but Janis Espinoza made it 10-5 in the top of the seventh inning after hitting her second home run of the season, a two-run shot to left. Kelly Colleran improves to 13-13, tossing a complete game. This is the second time this season that the Eagles have hit three home runs.
