Eagles Fall to North Carolina in ACC Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No. 2 Boston College lacrosse fell to No. 1 North Carolina, 14-12, in the ACC Championship game on Sunday afternoon at American Legion Memorial Stadium.
BC suffers its second loss of the campaign, moving to 17-2 overall. UNC improves to 19-0.
Mia Mascone and Molly Driscoll both scored three goals for the Eagles, while Rachel Clark and Mckenna Davis each finished with four points on two goals and two assists. Shea Dolce made 14 saves in net.
Boston College held a 9-8 lead going into the fourth quarter, but the Tar Heels outscored the Eagles 6-3 over the final 15 minutes.
It was a back-and-forth affair throughout the contest with neither team leading by more than two goals and traded nine ties and nine lead changes.Â
After a 5-5 first quarter, North Carolina claimed a 7-5 edge until Davis and Mascone scored back-to-back goals to tie up the game in the second period. Dolce made a key save just right at half to keep the score deadlocked at 7-7 going into the break.Â
The Eagles held a lead by as much as two late in the fourth thanks to a Kylee Colbert score capped off by a Clark goal to give BC an 11-9 edge. However, the Tar Heels finished the game on a 5-1 run to pull out the win.Â
Dolce, Shea Baker and Clark represented BC on the ACC All-Tournament Team. Dolce made an ACC Tournament record 38 saves, and finished with a .559 save percentage.Â
BC will await its seed and opponent in the selection show next Sunday.
