Transfer from Baylor originally from Lynn, Mass.; Five-Star Recruit from Class of 2024
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Jason Asemota has committed to Boston College to continue his academic and athletic career as a member of the men's basketball program, head coach Earl Grant announced. Â
Originally from Lynn, Mass., Asemota arrives at the Heights after playing his first collegiate season at Baylor in 2024-25. Â The 6-8, 205-pound forward saw action in 24 games (148 minutes) for the Bears this past season. Â He has three seasons of eligibility remaining. Â
"Jason brings great length and athleticism to our perimeter. He is very versatile and possesses a lot of intangibles. Â He can really shoot the ball and also has a burst attacking the rim. His length and wingspan should put him in position to be a lock down defender," Grant said. Â
In his lone season in Waco, Asemota saw a season-high 14 minutes of playing time twice during Big 12 play - against Cincinnati and versus Kansas State. Â He registered a team-best +18 rating in the win over the Bearcats on Jan. 7. Â Asemota tallied a season-best eight points in 11 minutes against Tarleton State in November.
A five-star rated recruit by both 247 Sports and Rivals, Asemota was ranked as the 29th best player in the class of 2024 by ESPN on the Overtime Elite circuit out of Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix. He attended the NBPA Top-100 camp in 2022 and 2023.
"He has great upside and I can see him improving quickly in our program. Â Our Strength & Conditioning program will benefit him tremendously. I look forward to getting him to campus and seeing him make an impact on the program," added Grant.Â
Asemota becomes the third player from the transfer portal to join the Eagles for the 2025-26 campaign. Earlier in April, BC announced the signing of Aidan Shaw from Missouri and Boden Kapke from Butler.
