Kapke joins the Eagles after spending the previous two seasons at Butler
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boden Kapke has committed to Boston College to continue his academic and athletic career as a member of the men's basketball program, head coach Earl Grant announced. Â Kapke - a 6-11, 255-pound post player - transferred to BC after spending the previous two seasons at Butler, appearing in 56 games. Â He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Eagles.
"We are extremely happy to have Boden join our program. He brings a unique element to our program with his size, physicality, and skill level," said Grant. "He's a very good passer and has the ability to play inside-out. He brings great experience with the minutes he's played over the past two seasons. His work ethic and leadership will be a great asset to our program. I look forward to seeing the impact he makes at BC."
This past season, Kapke appeared in 34 games, earning the start in 16 of the final 17 contests of the 2024-25 campaign. Â The Victoria, Minn. product averaged 4.1 points and 2.8 rebounds in a little over 13 minutes per game. Â He knocked down 18 3-pointers and registered a 2.00:1 assist/turnover ratio for the Bulldogs.
Kapke posted double-figures in scoring on four occasions, led by a season-high 14 points against Boise State in the College Basketball Crown tournament, connecting on 6-of-9 shots from the floor to go with five rebounds in 24 minutes.
He also led the Bulldogs in rebounding on four occasions in 2024-25, grabbing 10 or more rebounds twice. Â Kapke had 13 boards and three assists at Xavier and compiled his first collegiate double-double on Jan. 31 at Seton Hall, totaling 13 points and 11 boards.
Kapke also played with Team USA in the 2024 U23 Nations League Americas 3x3 event.
A finalist for the 2023 Minnesota Mr. Basketball, Kapke was rated the No. 3 prospect in Minnesota by Prep Hoops. Â He averaged 23 points and 13 rebounds as a senior, leading his Holy Family H.S. team to a 29-3 record and the state semifinals as a senior. He chose Butler over several schools, including Boston College, initially.
He becomes the second player to commit to Boston College through the transfer portal. On April 4, Aidan Shaw announced his commitment to the Eagles for the 2025-26 season.
