Weekend Won: Joey Ryan Earns Save as BC Mounts Series-Clinching Comeback

Kyle Wolff delivered go-ahead single in 7th inning to secure road conference series
Kyle Wolff opened the scoring in the top of the first, roping a double 109 m.p.h. off the bat to score Patrick Roche. Wolff reached third, and Adam Magpoc brought him home after beating out a ground ball to first base. The hosts responded with one in the bottom half, but BC responded with another two-spot in the third. Josiah Ragsdale doubled to lead off the inning, and after stealing third, Jack Toomey brought him across. Two batters later, and Adam Magpoc drove his second homer of the season to left-center, a solo shot to make it 4-1. Wake Forest tacked on another run in the bottom half, with the Eagles leading 4-2 after three full.
Gavin Soares worked a 1-2-3 fourth inning after entering in relief in the third, as the Eagles took a 4-2 lead into the fifth. Wake Forest struck for two in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run and RBI single, taking a 5-4 lead after six full. After opening the scoring in the first, Kyle Wolff delivered again with two outs in the seventh. Ragsdale and Toomey reached, and Wolff drove a two-run single through the infield to put the Eagles back in front, 6-5.
A.J. Colarusso started game one of the series and was called on out of the bullpen with the Eagles facing a jam in the seventh. With the bases loaded, Colarusso induced an inning-ending double play, preserving the one-run lead into the eighth.
Vince Cimini extended the lead to leadoff the eighth, driving his second home run of the season to left field to make it 7-5 Eagles. Joey Ryan relieved Colarusso with one out in the eighth and stranded two, forcing a pop-out and fanning the final batter of the frame to preserve the two-run lead after eight. Ryan came back out and cruised through the ninth, setting down the side in order to secure the 7-5 victory and conference series win.
