Eight-Run Third Powers Eagles Over Quinnipiac in Seven Innings
April 22, 2025 | Baseball
BC opens homestand with 15-2 victory and third straight win
The sides traded scoreless frames through the first two innings, with Eagles' starter Brady Miller allowing just two hits over three shutout innings to open the game. In the top of the third, Sam McNulty snagged a line drive and fed it to second baseman Julio Solier to double off the runner at second to preserve the scoreless tie.
The Eagles broke the tie in the bottom of the third. Julio Solier and Josiah Ragsdale walked, and after Patrick Roche reached on a hit-by-pitch, Jack Toomey roped a two-run double down the right field line. Kyle Wolff followed with an RBI-fielder's choice, and Vince Cimini followed that with a sacrifice fly. Sam McNulty singled, and with two outs, Adam Magpoc brought two more home on a single through the right side, his second hit in three innings to put BC up 6-0. Cesar Gonzalez singled, and Solier, batting for the second time this frame, muscled a two-run single to right field, capping off an eight-run inning for the Eagles.
With an eight-run lead, Brady Miller came back out for the fourth and hung another zero, striking out consecutive batters to maintain the 8-0 lead. Patrick Roche walked to leadoff the Eagles' half of the fourth and came around to score on Kyle Wolff's second RBI of the day. With two outs, Vince Cimini ripped a solo shot 106 m.p.h. off the bat and over the left-field fence, his second homer in as many games to extend the BC lead to 10-0 after four full.
Miller continued to deal into the fifth, working around a walk and a single to complete his fifth straight scoreless inning. Magpoc walked to start the bottom of the fifth, and Julio Solier eventually brought him home on his second RBI-single of the day. After stealing second and advancing to third, Solier crossed on a groundout from Ragsdale to put the Eagles up 12-0 after five full.
The visitors brought one across in the sixth on a single and RBI double to make it 12-1. The Eagles responded right away, with Jack Toomey leading off the frame with his second double of the game. Cimini brought him across for his third RBI of the game, and Adam Magpoc followed by crushing his third homer of the season deep to right field, a two-run shot to put BC up 15-1.
Tyler Mudd finished the game on the mound for the Eagles, going two innings and closing the game in seven with BC leading 15-2. Brady Miller earned the win, his third of the season to tie for the team-lead.Â
The Eagles will turn around to host UMass Lowell on Wednesday at 4:00 ahead of a home weekend series vs. Miami.
