
Two Walk-Offs Give Eagles First Series Win of the Season

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Boston College softball (15-14, 3-8 ACC) secured their first series win of the season, taking both games of a double header against the University of Pittsburgh (11-20, 1-10 ACC) today at the Harrington Athletics Village. The Eagles won both games in walk-off fashion, winning the first by a score of 4-3 and the second 6-5.
GAME 1
The visitors got on the board first in game one, scoring two runs in the top of the third, followed by BC answering with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning, thanks to a Kali Case triple to right field, which scored Meghan Schouten.Â
Pitt made things 3-1 in the top of the fifth, but Hannah Slike tied things up at three a piece with a two RBI double, scoring Gator Robinson and Katelyn Deguire. The game looked to be headed to extra innings, but Jordan Stephens had something to say about it, winning the game for the Eagles with a walk-off single, scoring Slike.Â
Bailey Kendziorski recorded a new career-high for strikeouts, blanking eight batters across seven innings, giving up three earned runs on nine hits.
GAME 2
Pittsburgh once again jumped out to an early lead in game two, scoring four unanswered runs over the first four innings. Adriana Martinez got things going for the Eagles with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth that scored Emma Jackson. Jordan Stephens would knock in another run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly, once again scoring Jackson. Pitt added another in the top of the seventh to make things 5-2
In the bottom of the seventh, Martinez and Makenna Segal each got on with singles, setting the stage for Meghan Schouten to tie the game with a three-run shot, her third home run in the last four games.Â
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Hannah Slike hit a triple to right field, setting the stage for Emma Jackson to win the ballgame for the Eagles with a walk-off RBI single.
Kelly Colleran also recorded a new career-high for strikeouts, also striking out eight batters in seven innings of work.
On deck: The Eagles return to action tomorrow at the Harrington Athletics Village at 1 p.m. to close out the series vs. Pitt.
