LOUISVILLE, K.Y. – Boston College catcher Abby Ptak was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Northeast All-Region Second Team, the NFCA announced on Thursday afternoon.
Ptak paced the Eagles with a .375 batting average while also leading the team in doubles (14) and hits (60). Her 14 doubles tied for the third-most in a single season in program history, while her 60 hits ranked 10th all-time. The sophomore also added a triple and five home runs while remaining flawless defensively behind the plate, not committing a single error and throwing out 11 runners on the season. Her .375 average also sits eighth in Boston College single-season history.
This is the third consecutive year that the Eagles have had someone land on the All-Region second team, as Jordan Stephens earned a nod last season. Ptak is the 29th player in BC Softball history to earn either first or second team All-Region honors.
