No. 1 Eagles make first appearance in the Beanpot Championship game since 2019

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Round three of the Battle of Comm Ave is set to take place on Monday evening as No. 1 Boston College and No. 8 Boston University meet for the Beanpot Championship game at 7:30 p.m. inside TD Garden. The game will be available to watch on NESN, ESPN+ and TSN3/5 along with a radio broadcast on WEEI 850 AM.

SETTING THE SCENE
• The Eagles improved to 21-4-1 overall on Friday with a 4-2 victory over New Hampshire
• BC is currently on an nine-game winning streak that includes wins over Merrimack, Harvard, Providence (2x), Boston University (2x), UMass Lowell, Northeastern and New Hampshire
• Boston College has outscored its opponents 92-44 this season, including 37-10 in the third period

HOW WE GOT HERE
• The Eagles defeated Northeastern on this past Monday in the semifinals of the 72nd Dunkin' Men's Beanpot by a score of 8-2
• Eight different players lit the lamp for BC
• Ryan Leonard led all players with three points on one goal and two assists
• Eamon Powell, Teddy Stiga, Lukas Gustafsson, James Hagens, Aram Minnetian, and Gabe Perreault each finished with two points
• Jacob Fowler made 28 saves

BC IN THE BEANPOT
• BC improved to 83-59-1 in the Beanpot with its win over Northeastern
• Boston College is 20-16 in the Beanpot Championship
• The Eagles are playing in the championship game for the first time since 2019 and looking to win their 21st Beanpot Championship and first since 2016

ROAD WIN AT NEW HAMPSHIRE
• BC scored three unanswered goals in the third period on Friday to overturn a 2-1 deficit and defeat New Hampshire 4-2
• Perreault, Will Vote, Gentry Shamburger and Mike Posma each lit the lamp
• Gustafsson and Minnetian each recorded two assists
• Fowler stopped 19 shots

AMONG HOCKEY EAST
• BC leads Hockey East in penalty-killing percentage (90.5) and save percentages (.935)
• In conference play, Leonard (26) and Perreault (21) sit one and three in points in the league
• Leonard leads Hockey East in goals (23) and game-winning goals (8)
• Perreault leads the league in assists with 25
• Perreault is third in the league in points per game (1.35), while Leonard is fourth with 1.31
• Jacob Fowler leads Hockey East in wins (19), shutouts (6) and save percentage (.936), and is second in goals against average (1.66)
• Aidan Hreschuk is tied for ninth in blocked shots with 40

A LOOK AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY
• Boston University enters Monday's matchup with a 15-10-1 overall record
• The Terriers are coming off a 2-1 overtime defeat to Merrimack on Friday evening
• BU defeated Harvard, 7-1, in the Beanpot semifinals last Monday
• Quinn Hutson leads the Terriers in points (33) and goals (16)
• Cole Hutson has a team-high 20 assists
• Mikhail Yegorov has started the last four games between the pipes and has made 94 saves with six goals allowed for a .940 save percentage and a 1.51 goals against average
