Eagles' opening weekend begins Friday at 3:00 p.m. in South Carolina
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College Baseball will travel to the University of South Carolina Upstate to face the Spartans in a three-game weekend series to open the 2025 Birdball season. On the ten-year anniversary of the first matchup, the teams begin the first three-game set in matchup history. In Interdonato's coaching career, he is 13-10 all-time against USC Upstate, holding a 3-8 record when his teams play in Spartanburg.
Game times are currently scheduled for Friday at 3:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m., and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Friday's and Sunday's games will be broadcasted on ESPN+.Â
Returner Notes
• The SS-2B duo of Sam McNulty and Vince Cimini started every game in '24 and return as veteran leaders. The middle-infield pair have the 3rd and 4th-most hits among returners and boast a .975 combined FLD%.
• At the corners, Nick Wang, Kyle Wolff, and Patrick Roche will once again fill the middle of the order on offense. Wang has the most HRs, T-most RBI, and most total bases among returners, and made the 2nd-most starts in 2024. Wolff owns the highest AVG, the most hits, T-most RBI, and most doubles among returning players. Roche boasts the highest OPS and most stolen bases among returners, with the second-highest AVG.
• Junior LHP A.J. Colarusso boasts the most strikeouts, starts, and innings pitched among returners, and logged the second-most strikeouts on the team in '24.
• Senior RHP Eric Schroeder led the entire staff in wins in '24, making 20 appearances with just one loss (6-1). Schroeder logged the second-most IP among all returners and will reprise his high-leverage role.
• Senior LHP Tyler Mudd transferred in from Holy Cross last offseason and made an instant impact. He struck out five batters over five no-hit innings in BC's victory in the '24 season opener, and allowed just two earned runs across his first 17 innings as an Eagle. Mudd suffered a mid-season injury, but is back and aims to return to form in 2025.
• Joey Ryan returns to the fold in 2025, having tied the team-lead in appearances during the team's 2023 Regional Final run, before missing '24 with Tommy John. Ryan fanned 45 batters in 32 innings in 2023 and will be an asset in a revamped Eagles bullpen.
