Hand and Forte Shine as BC Rolls Past The Citadel

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College defeated The Citadel, 76-47, in Thursday night's home opener at Conte Forum. Donald Hand Jr. led the charge for the Eagles, finishing with 18 points and eight rebounds. Chase Forte chipped in with 12 points and six assists.
FIRST HALF
- BC trailed 16-7 through seven minutes of action, but quickly caught fire with a 14-0 scoring run
- The Eagles held The Citadel scoreless for over five minutes of action and seized a 21-16 lead during the offensive surge
- Caleb Steger drained a three-ball to extend the lead to eight with 6:27 left in the half
- After trailing by nine points early, BC outscored The Citadel 31-8 for the remainder of the half
- BC led 38-24 at the break
SECOND HALF
- Forte knocked down BC's first basket of the second half, becoming the first Eagle to notch double figures in the game
- At the 15:55 mark, Aidan Shaw electrified the crowd with an alley-oop slam assisted by Forte, extending the lead to 46-24
- BC maintained a strong advantage - 64-40 - heading into the 7:03 stoppage
- The Eagles finished off the emphatic victory with a 9-0 scoring run
- Walk-ons Jack DiDonna and Will Eggemeier saw action in the contest
NOTABLES
- Four turnovers tied for the second-fewest in a game for the Eagles at Conte Forum
- BC dominated in the paint by controlling the rebound battle (47-36) and recording more points in the paint (36-22)
- The last time the Eagles held a non-conference opponent to under 50 points in a game was a home contest vs. Rhode Island on Nov. 27, 2022 (53-49)
- Marko Radunovic hauled in a team-high nine boards
- Forte dished a game-high six assists
- Jason Asemota notched a new career high with nine points (3-6 FG, 2 3PM)
- The Eagles improved to 3-0 all-time vs. The Citadel, with the teams matching up for the third consecutive season
