Eagles Fall to Central Connecticut State

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College fell to Central Connecticut State, 60-59, on Tuesday night on the Edgerley Family Court at Conte Forum. Fred Payne led the Eagles in scoring with 17 points.
FIRST HALF
- On the first possession of the game, Jayden Hastings found a wide-open lane and slammed home a dunk to start the night for the Eagles
- BC claimed an early 10-2 lead, but CCSU answered with six straight points before the first media timeout
- Luka Toews made an immediate impact off the bench, nailing a three-pointer with 9:24 left in the half to extend the lead to 17-10
- BC led 22-17 at the four-minute media timeout
- At the 2:09 mark, Donald Hand Jr. knocked down a mid-range jumper and ended a brief BC drought
- The Eagles held a four-point advantage at halftime, 30-26
SECOND HALF
- BC shot 4-for-5 to start the half, with Fred Payne scoring the first two baskets
- With 12 minutes left, Boden Kapke entered the scoring column with a contested bucket in the paint
- Hand buried his first triple of the game, giving BC a 52-46 lead ahead of the 8:48 media timeout
- After making seven consecutive shot attempts, CCSU gained its first lead of the game (55-54) with 6:45 remaining
- Payne completed a three-point play to put BC ahead 59-58 - with two minutes remaining
- CCSU scored the go-ahead basket with three seconds left
NOTABLES
- Hastings and Aidan Shaw each hauled in eight rebounds
- Chase Forte blocked a career-high three shots
- Toews saw game action for the first time this season
- Tonight marked the ninth-ever meeting between BC and CCSU
- Tuesday night was the first of four matchups against Northeast Conference opponents for the Eagles this season (CCSU, New Haven, FDU, Le Moyne)
