Three Eagles Score Double Digits in Weekend Win at Temple

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College took home its first road victory of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Temple, 76-71, in The Liacouras Center. Donald Hand Jr. scored a team-high 18 points, with Fred Payne and Boden Kapke adding 17 points each.
FIRST HALF
- Fred Payne took control of the opening five minutes, draining three straight three pointers to give the Eagles a seven-point edge early on
- Boden Kapke's three-pointer at 13:24 built the lead to 10 before the Owls used a 10-0 scoring run of their own to level the contest at 20-20
- A steal and three from Chase Forte reclaimed the lead for Boston College, and a Jayden Hastings hook shot extended it to five at the eight-minute media
- Kapke continued to provide a spark off the bench, notching in a layup and a top-of-the-key three at the 3:20 mark to build a cushion. Kapke would finish the first half with 10 points and two blocks
- Boston College entered halftime with a five-point advantage, 36-31
SECOND HALF
- BC maintained its lead in the early stages of the second half. Both teams went on a dry spell before Payne answered with a steal, followed by an and-one driving layup. He would lace the charity line shot
- Temple cut its deficit to a point, making it 49-48 at the 11:19 mark. The Eagles responded on a 9-0 scoring run, with Marko Radunovic, Luka Toews, Aidan Shaw, and Hand Jr. contributing
- Kapke and Toews traded back-to-back buckets to stretch the lead to 68-55. Shaw capped off the run with a thunderous slam to keep the lead at 13 points with 2:49 remaining
- The Owls wouldn't back down, using back-to-back threes and free throws to cut the deficit to five with 1:05 remaining in the contest
- BC made multiple defensive stops, with Hand Jr., Shaw, and Payne knocking down late-game free throws to keep its lead
- The Eagles held on for a 76-71 victory on the road
NOTABLES
- Along with his team-high in points, Hand Jr. collected a season-high 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season
- Shaw secured a career-high 14 rebounds and matched a career-high in blocks (5). He becomes the first BC player to record five or more blocks since Quinten Post did against Louisville (2/13/24)
- Kapke recorded a career-high three blocks and matched his season and career best in points (17), field goals made (7), and 3PT field goals made (3)
- Radunovic dished a career-high three assists
- BC recorded its first true regular season road win since defeating Louisville, 67-61, in its 2023-24 regular season finale (3/9/24)
- The Eagles recorded their second straight victory over the Owls, improving to 2-4 in the all-time series

- Boston College returns to The Edgerley Court at Conte Forum to host Hampton on Tuesday, Nov. 18
