
No. 16 Eagles Open ACC Play With Decisive Win Over Wake Forest

Six Eagles Record Points in 4-1 Victory
NEWTON, Mass. - The No. 16 Eagles (5-2, 1-0 ACC)Â defeated the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest University (2-4, 0-1 ACC) 4-1 on Friday night at the Newton Field Hockey Complex.

The action started in the second quarter, as Yani Zhong netted her sixth goal of the season on a penalty corner, with assists coming from Mia Garber and Martina Giacchino. Peyton Hale then put the Eagles up 2-0 going into the half on a penalty corner, assisted by Yani Zhong and Madelieve Drion.Â
Wake Forest would come within one early in the fourth quarter, as Anabelle Brodeur found the back of the net off the rebound of her own saved shot.Â
Five minutes later, Drion would put the Eagles up 3-1, scoring her second of the year after a slick feed from Klara Mueffelmann. With under a minute to play, BC was awarded a penalty stroke, which was capitalized on by Peyton Hale for her second goal of the night and sixth of the season.
The Eagles had the edge in shots (13-5), shots on goal (9-5), and penalty corners (4-2). Charley Kramer had two saves in goal for BC, while Ellie Todd notched five for Wake Forest.Â
Up next: The Eagles head to the University of New Hampshire on Sunday to take on the Wildcats. The game will be streaming live on America East TV.
