Eagles Extend Win Streak to Four
The Wildcats struck first, as Faye Meijer opened the second quarter with her second goal of the season. Just one minute later, the Eagles were awarded a penalty stroke, which was capitalized on by Peyton Hale to even the score for her seventh goal of the season. Mia Garber would put the Eagles up 2-1 on a slick feed from Peyton Hale on a penalty corner to close out the second quarter.Â
A minute into the third quarter, Yani Zhong capitalized on a penalty corner for her seventh goal of the season, with the insertion coming from Eva Kluskens. The Wildcats would move within one with ten minutes to play in the third quarter on an Ella Pratt goal.
BC would go up 4-2 with eight minutes remaining, thanks to Madelieve Drion, who was found right in front of the net by Eva Kluskens. With a minute remaining, Madelief Grandjean tipped in her second collegiate goal on an assist from Mia Garber. With just seven seconds to play, Kathelijne Knuttel would score her sixth of the season, but it was too little too late for the Wildcats, as the Eagles would improve to 6-2 on the season.
The Eagles had the edge on shots (19-6), shots on goal (12-6), and penalty corners (12-2). Abby Johnson made seven saves in goal for the Wildcats, while Charlotte Kramer made three.
Up next: The Eagles travel to Kentucky to take on No. 12 Louisville (5-3, 1-0) this Friday at 6 p.m.
