Second Half Goal Propels Men’s Soccer to 1-0 Victory over Merrimack

Ask Ekeland scored his fourth goal of the season
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Boston College men's soccer earned its second-straight win, defeating Merrimack by a score of 1-0 on Sunday in non-conference action at Martone-Mejail Field. Ask Ekeland scored the game-winning goal for the second-straight game.
BC improves to 2-0-2 on the season while Merrimack falls to 1-2-0.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Eagles tallied the game-winning goal shortly into the second half. Xavier O'Neil made his way down the right wing and struck a low cross into the box across the face of goal to Ekeland. Ekeland calmly redirected the ball into the back of the net to put Boston College in the lead in the 55th minute.
BC dominated play for the majority of the contest, finishing with 26 shots, including 11 on goal. The Eagles also had 10 corner kicks, all coming in the second half.
Brennan Klein made one save in the game to earn his first clean sheet of the season.
The Eagles open ACC play this Friday against Syracuse at the Newton Soccer Complex at 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
