Eagles Clinch Series Against Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- Boston College secured the series against Notre Dame for the first time since 2018 Sunday afternoon at the Melissa Cook Softball Stadium. The Eagles defeated the Fighting Irish, 6-3, in an explosive five-run inning in the third. The Eagles moved to 27-21 overall and 7-14 in the ACC. Notre Dame falls to 26-22 on the season and 9-15 in conference play.
Boston College struck first in the opening frame from a Jordan Stephens RBI double. Notre Dame responded evening the score, locked at one.Â
After a scoreless second inning for both sides. Boston College went to work in the third, loading the bases for Gator Robinson, a wild pitch added one to the board. Bases remained full for Stephens to reach on a fielding error adding an RBI. A two-RBI single from Makenna Segal closed out the inning for the Eagles.
The Eagles held the lead as the Fighting Irish rallied late adding two runs in the bottom of the seventh.Â
Nicole Giery added three hits, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Logging her 17th double of the season. Abby Dunning got the win for the Eagles, with Dunning contributing five scoreless outings.
The Eagles are scheduled to visit Boston University on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. ahead of hosting Louisville this weekend.
