Strong Defensive Effort Paces BC to 67-61 Win at Louisville

Claudell Harris Jr. leads three Eagles in scoring with 18; all nine BC players scored
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Boston College held on to beat Louisville, 67-61, at the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday in the 2023-24 regular season finale for both teams.
Claudell Harris led all scorers with an efficient 18 points on only nine field goal attempts. Â Harris knocked down 4-of-5 from the perimeter to go along with eight boards and two assists. It was Harris' eight game this season with at least four 3-pointers. Â
He was one of three Eagles in double digits. Â Devin McGlockton had 11 points, eight rebounds, a blocked shot, and a steal, while Quinten Post added 10 points, six boards and two steals.
All nine Eagles that saw action scored and eight of nine grabbed at least one rebounds. Â Jaeden Zackery had a full stat line, with eight points, four rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Mason Madsen added six points, eight boards, and two assists. Â Prince Aligbe chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.
With the win, BC closes the regular season with a 17-14 overall record, including 8-12 in ACC play. Â

FIRST HALF
- Louisville scored the first four points of the game, before a BC run put them ahead for the rest of the half
- A 17-1, capped by back to back treys by Harris and Madsen and an Elijah Strong dunk, made it 17-5 with 13:56 left in half
- The Cards used a 9-2 push to get within three - 21-18 - with 9:01 left
- BC scored on back to back possessions - a putback dunk from Mighty and two FT from Harris - pushing its back to seven, 25-18 with nine minutes left in the half
- The BC defense held UofL without a field goal for nearly 6:00; the Cards scored seven points during that stretch from the FT line.
- Foul trouble plagued BC in the first half, as the Eagles were whistled for 14 fouls
- Louisville held a 20-8 advantage in free throw attempts through the first 20 minutes
- BC led, 41-31, at the break
- The Cardinals opened the second half scoring the first six points, but BC quickly countered with seven unanswered to build an 11-point lead - 48-37 - before Louisville called timeout
- Harris' driving layup and corner 3-pointer spurred the run
- The run extended to 12-0, after a McGlockton dunk and 3-pointer gave BC its largest lead of the night - 16 points - at 53-37
- Louisville used a 12-4 push to get it back within single digits - 57-49 - with 9:02 to play
- The two teams traded baskets for much of the rest of the way, before going cold.
- BC and Louisville combined to shoot three for their last 21, with the bulk of the scoring coming from the foul line
- With the win, BC earned a sweep of Louisville. Â It was the third season sweep in ACC play (Notre Dame, Miami, Louisville).
- Boston College surpassed its overall win total from a season ago and tallied its sixth true road win of the season - the most since the 2005-06 season
- BC earned its fourth straight over the Cardinals, improving the all-time series to 8-10
- Quinten Post was limited to three minutes in the first half due to foul trouble
- Boston College heads to our Nation's Capital to start play in the 2024 ACC Tournament on Tuesday.
