Post Scores 30 as Eagles Down Miami in ACC Tournament

Four Eagles finished in double figures in third BC win over Miami this season
WASHINGTON, D.C. — No. 11 seed Boston College defeated #14 seeded Miami 81-65 in the opening round of the 2024 ACC Tournament, advancing to play six-seed Clemson in the second round.Â
Quinten Post finished with 30 points to lead all scorers, to go along with a game-high 13 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block. Post, who was named Second Team All-ACC and to the ACC All-Defensive Team, poured in 17 first-half points to help build a 15-point halftime lead.Â
Jaeden Zackery finished with 16 points on 7-9 shooting, adding four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Claudell Harris Jr. finished with 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists, hitting four from range, including a second-half triple to extend the Eagle lead to 14 with three minutes to go. Devin McGlockton was the fourth Eagle to reach double figures, scoring ten points on 5-7 shooting with eight rebounds.Â
The Eagles led for 35:09 of 40 minutes in their third victory over the Hurricanes this season.Â
With the win, BC advances to the second round of the ACC Tournament for the third straight season, taking on Clemson at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
FIRST HALF
• Trailing 7-2 to start the game, BC outscored Miami 14-6 over the next 3:30 to take a 16-13 lead at the first media timeout. Quinten Post scored nine of the 14 points during the run.
• The run continued after that point, as the Eagles tacked on six straight to take a 22-13 lead with 12:21 left in the period
• A Donald Hand Jr. 3-pointer extended BC's lead to 16 - 30-14 - with 10:41 to go in the period
• Miami's 8-2 push over the next two minutes got the Hurricanes within 10 and the Canes got as close as eight - 34-26 - with 5:29 left
• But BC would close the opening frame on a 13-6 push - capped by a a Jaeden Zackery 3-ball with less than two seconds on the clock that pushed BC ahead to a 47-32 halftime lead
• Zackery (11) and Post (17) were led the Eagles in double figures in the opening halfÂ
• The Eagles drilled eight first half trifectas and had 10 assists on their 17 made field goals
SECOND HALF
• BC started the half 4-for-4 and Miami 4-for-6, but the Hurricanes outscored the Eagles 14-9 through the first five minutes of the half, cutting it to 10 - 56-46
• A 6-0 run - four from Post and a driving layup from Zackery - pushed the BC advantage back to 14 with under 12 minutes in regulation
• Miami would not go away, using a traditional three-point play to get within eight - 64-56 - with 8:04 to play.
• With 7:34 to play, a Devin McGlockton layup began a 7-0 BC run to extend the lead to 78-60 with 1:45 to play, putting the game away.Â
NOTES
• It marked Post's 11th 20-point performance of the season and his fourth game with at least 25 pointsÂ
• He also logged his 10th double-double of the 2023-24 campaign and his third 30-point double-douible
