Harris and Zackery combine for 49 points in the win as BC advanced in ACC Tourney
WASHINGTON, D.C.. — No. 11 seed Boston College drilled #6 seeded Clemson, 76-55, in the second round of the 2024 ACC Tournament on Wednesday night. With the victory, BC advances to the quarterfinals, and will take on #3 Virginia at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Claudell Harris Jr. poured in 27 points to lead all scorers. Harris was 10-of-22 from the floor, making five 3-pointers. Jaeden Zackery was spectacular again in the District, adding a career-best 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting - including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Zackery added a career-high seven boards, three assists, and zero turnovers in 31 minutes.
The last time Boston College had two players go for at least 22 points in an ACC Tourney game was March 7, 2018 when Jerome Robinson had 26 and Ky Bowman 24 in a 91-87 win over N.C. State in Brooklyn.
Boston College led for nearly 38 minutes en route to the victory - the Eagles' fourth straight.
FIRST HALF

- Back and forth start to the game, with six lead changes in the first 4:18 of play
- An 10-0 run, capped by two free throws from Claudell Harris Jr. gave BC a 16-7 lead with 13:25 left in the half
- An 8-0 Clemson run cut its deficit to one - at 18-17 - with 9:49
- BC responded with 14-1 run over the next 5:22, with eight of the 14 coming from Harris; the Eagles would lead 32-18 with 3:58 to go in the half
- Harris (13) and Zackery (10) led the Eagles in scoring through the first 20 minutes
- Boston College drilled six first half 3-pointers
- Quinten Post scored nine points in 7:00 before sitting the rest of the half after being whistled for two fouls
- Both teams started the second half making 3-of-6 shots from the floor over the first 4:25, with BC maintaining a 10-point lead with 15:35 to play
- Another Harris 3-pointer with 12:15 to go pushed BC's lead back to 14 - 54-40. The junior guard had seven of the Eagles' first 14 of the second half
- The Tigers got as close as 13 points before BC outscored Clemson, 20-10, to close out the game
- Boston College shot 50.0% from the floor over the final 20 minutes, scoring 1.20 points per possession
- Earl Grant improves to 5-2 all-time in ACC Tournament play.
- In ACC Tournament play so far, Jaeden Zackery is averaging 19.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals while shooting 71.4% from the floor - including 5-of-7 from the perimeter.
- One of the premier defensive guards in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Zackery held BC nemesis Joe Girard III to 13 points.
- Donald Hand Jr. is averaging 8.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 18 minutes per game off the bench for BC over the last two
- Boston College advances to the quarterfinals of the 2024 ACC Tournament, taking on #3 seed Virginia at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.
