
Lacrosse Fends off Louisville in Road Win

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Boston College women's lacrosse stayed undefeated in ACC play with a 17-14 victory over Louisville on Sunday afternoon in the UofL Lacrosse Stadium.
The Eagles improve to 8-1 and 3-0 in the league, while the Cardinals fall to 3-5 and 1-2 in the ACC.
Rachel Clark had herself a day with six goals, an assist and a season-high seven points. Kayla Martello netted her seventh hat trick of the season with four goals, while Ryan Smith had two scores and one assist for a season-high three points. Eight different players scored in the victory.
Emma LoPinto tallied a goal and led the team with three assists for four points. The four points for LoPinto is the most in an ACC game for the junior attacker. Abbey Herod registered a team-high five draw controls, while Cassidy Weeks recorded three.
Lydia Colasante and Sydney Scales led the team with two caused turnovers apiece, and Belle Smith tied the team lead with three ground balls with one caused turnover and a CT. Shea Dolce recorded seven saves and three GBs.
The Eagles answered Louisville's game-opening score with five straight to capture a 5-1 lead thanks to four different players finding the back of the net. UofL scored once more to make the first quarter a 5-2 cushion in favor of BC.
Louisville scored two of the first three goals to narrow the gap to two. Clark and Martello scored three straight to give the Eagles a 9-4 advantage. BC stayed in front the rest of the first, going into the break with a 12-9 lead after the Cardinals scored with under a minute left.
Neither team scored until the 8:11 mark when R. Smith and LoPinto scored in a 20-second span to give BC a 14-9 lead. Louisville wouldn't go away as it scored the next two goals to bring the deficit to three going into the final frame.
The Cardinals wouldn't get any closer than three in the final period. Martello tallied both of BC's goals, pushing the lead to five. ND scored two more times before BC ran out the clock.
The Eagles return to action next Saturday against Notre Dame in what will be a ranked matchup in Alumni Stadium at 12 p.m. in the annual Alumni Day/Red Bandanna Game.
