
No. 1 Lacrosse Routs Pitt in ACC Opener

PITTSBURGH - Boston College lacrosse put together a 19-3 triumph in the ACC opener on Saturday afternoon over Pitt in Harkmann Stadium.Â
The Eagles are 5-0 for the first time since 2022 and 1-0 in the league. Pitt falls to 1-3 and 0-1.Â
BC was clicking on all cylinders on both sides of the field, with the defense coming away with a season-high 12 caused turnovers, 20 ground balls along 15 draw controls.Â
Sydney Scales led the way with a season-best three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Ryan Smith tied the team lead with three draw controls and recorded three ground balls and two caused turnovers.Â
Hunter Roman was one of the three Eagles with multiple CT's, as she had a pair with two GBs.Â
The offense saw eight players score with four registering hat tricks. Kayla Martello and Rachel Clark each scored four goals, while Cassidy Weeks and Emma LoPinto had three. LoPinto also added three ground balls and a caused turnover.Â
Mckenna Davis tied a season-best with six points thanks to one goal and five helpers.Â
The Eagles broke a 1-1 tie with six straight goals capped off by a Weeks score to give BC the 7-1 advantage in the second.Â
BC extended its lead to eight after Clark, LoPinto, and Martello found the back of the net in a six-minute span, leading to a 10-2 lead going into the break.Â
The scoring surge continued as the Eagles reeled off 11 more to stretch their cushion to 16, pulling away for the victory. Also scoring was Annabelle Hasselbeck, who found the net twice. Belle Smith and Andrea Reynolds also scored. Â Shea Baker added three draw controls.Â
BC returns to action against No. 4 Northwestern in last year's national title rematch on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Newton Lacrosse Field.Â
