Eagles Win Non-Conference Matchup over Suffolk

Five different players scored
NEWTON, Mass. – Five different players found the back of the net as the Boston College men's soccer team defeated Suffolk by a score of 5-1 on Monday evening in non-conference action at the Newton Soccer Field. Danny Istambouli, Leo Guarino, Xavier O'Neil and Bryan Toro scored their first goals of the season, while Ask Ekeland tallied his team-high seventh goal of the campaign.
BC improves to 4-4-5 overall while Suffolk drops to 6-5-3.
The Eagles jumped out to a quick start as Istambouli scored his first collegiate goal just 1:35 into the contest. Marc Boye made the long throw-in into the box, Ekeland flicked it onto Istambouli for the first time strike into the bottom right corner.
Suffolk scored the equalizer in the 19th minute when Edward Abouzeid capitalized on an opportunity in the box.
Guarino netted his first goal as an Eagle late in the first half, slotting home a penalty kick to put Boston College back in front, 2-1. Ekeland added a penalty kick goal with under one minute remaining in the opening half to extend the lead to 3-1.
O'Neil joined in on the scoring early in the second half when he curled in an effort from just outside the box. Toro also tallied his first collegiate goal late in the contest with a well-hit strike from just outside the box that went to the far post into the top left corner.
The Eagles finished the night with a 9-1 shots on goal advantage and had six corner kicks.
Thomas Jordan earned his first collegiate win after playing the full 90 minutes in net for Boston College.
BC hits the road on Saturday to take on Notre Dame. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
