
Eagles Edge Wake Forest in Thursday Night Battle

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball edged Wake Forest 68-65 on Thursday evening inside Conte Forum.Â
Boston College wins a ninth straight home game to improve to 11-8 and get back to .500 in ACC play at 3-3. Wake Forest falls to 4-14 and 0-6 in league action.Â
The Eagles saw four players score in double figures, with Andrea Daley scoring a game-high 20 points. The junior guard scored 13 of her points in the second half, while 11 of her 20 came from the line. She grabbed six rebounds as well.Â
T'yana Todd recorded a season-best 19 points (14 in the second half) on an efficient 7-of-9 shooting from the floor. Teya Sidberry totaled 15 points, seven boards, two steals, and two assists. Dontavia Waggoner stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, a team-best nine rebounds, five steals, and three helpers.Â
What was a nine-point lead for the Eagles with 1:44 left came down to the wire. Wake Forest sliced the deficit to one point with six seconds left after it hit three at the charity stripe to cap off a 15-8 run.Â
Following a pair of Daley free throws to give BC the 68-65 score, the visitors' attempt to tie just rimmed out.Â
BC had its best showing on offense in the final frame, shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 11-of-14 at the line. The Eagles hit 20 of their free throws in the second half.Â
The offenses went cold coming out of the gate, where each team shot under 30 percent from the field. The Eagles hit their final four shots of the opening frame to turn a 6-2 deficit into an 11-9 edge going into the second period. Todd led the run scoring five of what was a 9-3 surge over the final 3:16 of the quarter.Â
It was a back-and-forth affair in the second, as neither squad led by more than four points. BC went into the break with a 27-23 advantage thanks to a Sidberry trifecta.
BC and Wake Forest continued their battle in the third, as the frame featured three ties and six lead changes. The Eagles ended the period on a 5-2 surge after WF held a 39-38 lead late in the period, giving the hosts a 43-41 heading into the final 10 minutes.Â
The Eagles outscored Wake Forest 14-6 in second-chance points and held a 15-point showing at the line.Â
BC heads to Atlanta for a 2 p.m. showdown against Georgia Tech.Â
