ATLANTAÂ - Boston College women's basketball fell to Georgia Tech, 69-54, on Sunday afternoon in McCamish Pavilion.Â
The Eagles fall to 11-9 and 3-4 in the ACC, while Georgia Tech improves 13-6 and 4-3 in the conference.Â
Teya Sidberry led the Eagles with 15 points and grabbed four rebounds and two steals. Andrea Daley was the other Eagle in double figures with 12 points, pulling down a team-high eight rebounds and three steals.Â
It was a quarter of runs in the opening period, as Georgia Tech jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first 2:38 of the contest. The Eagles responded with eight straight to take a one-point lead thanks in large part to Sidberry scoring five of the points. However, the hosts ended the first period with a 24-10 lead after hitting five of their last six shots of the frame.Â
Boston College sliced the lead to eight points on multiple occasions, but when it looked like the Eagles were about to make a run, the Yellow Jackets answered. After a pair of Dontavia Waggoner free throws, Georgia Tech scored at the end of the second to go into the half with a 32-22 lead.Â
Georgia Tech went up by 15 early in the third quarter. The Eagles tried to climb back into the contest, hitting seven straight shot attempts to bring the gap down to nine. BC went into the fourth down by 11 following a Nene Ndiaye layup.Â
The Yellow Jackets kept BC at bay in the fourth period to pull away for the win, staying in front by double digits.Â
Boston College returns to action on Thursday against Louisville at 7 p.m. in the second of back-to-back road games.Â
