CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College and Boston University played to a 2-2 draw on Tuesday Night at the Newton Soccer Complex.
The Eagles pushed their record to 2-2-1, while the Terriers also moved to 4-2-1.
Freshman Marco Dos Santos led the Eagles in shot attempts with three, including one shot on goal. Juniors Aidan Farwell, Jonathan Murphy, and Drew Serafino all had one shot attempt each. Sophomores CJ Williams and Augustine Boadi both had shots on goal.
Senior goalkeeper Leon Musial made his second start and third appearance of the season, finishing the game with three saves.
The Terriers got the first chance of the game in the first minute when Andrew Rent took a bounce off a goal kick towards the top right of the box, and ripped a shot that was saved by a sliding Musial. The Eagles got their first chance a minute later when Dos Santos received a pass from across the field, and took a shot from just inside the top of the box with his left foot that was saved by goalkeeper Francesco Montali in the second minute.
Boston College was awarded a penalty kick off a BU foul inside the box in the 21st minute. Farwell opened the scoring by finishing the penalty kick and beating Montali to his right, putting BC up 1-0. BU responded five minutes later in the 26th minute with a goal from Quinn Matulis off of a free kick that just beat Musial inside the near post to even the score at 1-1. Boadi earned his first career goal in the 43rd minute off a blocked shot from inside the box that deflected over Montali's head and into the net. The Terriers responded again to make the game 2-2 in the 52nd minute when Rent took a BC turnover off of a BU goal kick, and finished it into the back of the net.
Musial kept the score tied in the 66th minute off a shot from just inside the top right corner of the box. He responded with a big save in the 85th minute off of a BU header from a cross. Musial pushed the ball over the crossbar and kept the game tied.
Boston College remained unbeaten at home with a record of 2-0-3.
