Eagles Draw With Pitt in ACC Home Opener

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College and Pitt played to a scoreless draw on Friday night at the Newton Soccer Complex in the Eagles' ACC home opener.
The Eagles pushed their record to 2-2-2 (0-1-1 ACC), while the Panthers also moved to 2-2-2 (1-0-1 ACC).
Freshman Xavier O'Neil led the Eagles in shot attempts with three, including two shots on goal. Junior Aidan Farwell, freshman Alfie Hughes, and freshman Marco Dos Santos all had one shot attempt.
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Brennan Klein played just over 80 minutes, finishing with two saves. Senior Leon Musial stepped in for the final nine minutes after Klein left the game with an injury. The combined shutout extended Klein's home shutout streak to 350 minutes over four games.
The Eagles got the first chance of the game in the first minute of play when O'Neil took a pass and just missed a shot inches wide right of the far post.
O'Neil gave the Eagles another chance to break the tie when he received a pass from Hughes, proceeded to dribble to the top left of the box and ripped a shot that was saved by Cabral Carter over the bar.
Klein kept the game scoreless in the 80th minute when he stopped Luka Kozomara's shot from the top right of the box.
Boston College remained unbeaten at home with a record of 2-0-2.
BC returns to action Tuesday night to face Boston University at 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
