Eagles and Wildcats Battle in Showdown for National Title

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse and Northwestern will face off on Sunday at Noon in a showdown for the national championship on ESPN in Cary, N.C. at the WakeMed Soccer ParkÂ
About the Eagles
Last Time Out
Boston College came back from a 7-5 deficit in the fourth quarter to upend Syracuse in the national semifinals on Friday. Kayla Martello put BC ahead for the first time with 3:31 left in the fourth quarter, finding the back of the goal off the 8-meter. Jenn Medjid led BC with five goals - including two tallies to start the fourth quarter - tying the match the 9:12 to play, setting up Martello's go-ahead score. Syracuse scored the first three goals of the contest, taking a 3-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the match. The defense held 'Cuse to a season-low seven goals in the win.

The Eagles are playing stellar defense in the postseason, limiting all six of their foes to under 10 goals. BC has held its foes to an average of eight goals under its opponents scoring average. Boston College held Notre Dame to both of its season lows in scoring and limited Syracuse to a season worst in goals on Friday.Â

Medjid continued her torrid scoring stretch, as she tallied five of the Eagles' eight goals. The Eagles are 16-0 since 2021 when Medjid scores five goals, while she has 11 goals and four assists in the NCAA Tournament
Shea Stopper
Shea Dolce is on a torrid stretch in the posteason, where she has a .481 save percentage and a 7.00 goals-against average. Dolce has 39 saves during the stretch and was name the ACC Tournament's Most Valuable Player along with facing top-10 offenses.Â

It's the second time the Eagles have faced Northwestern this season, where the Wildcats captured a narrow 15-14 lead. BC held a 10-6 lead at the half, but was outscored 9-4 in the final two periods. Kayla Martello and Medjid scored four goals in the loss to lead the offense.Â
