BC baseball clinches spot in ACC Championship.

BRIGHTON, Mass. – No. 17 Boston College baseball came from seven runs down to record an 11-9 win over Villanova at the Harrington Athletics Village on Saturday night. The Eagles homered four times, including a three-run homer in the eighth by sophomore second baseman Nick Wang (Newton, Mass.) for the first lead of the game, to improve to 31-16 on the season.

Results around the conference ended favorably for BC, which clinched its first ACC Championship appearance since 2019 following losses by NC State and Louisville.

Wang homered twice and drove in seven runs on the day. It was the first seven-RBI game by an Eagle since Chris Shaw in 2015.

BC trailed 3-0 immediately and was down by as many as seven runs at 9-2 in the sixth inning. The Eagles hit three home runs in the sixth to cut the deficit to one. Junior first baseman Joe Vetrano (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) hit a leadoff homer, Wang slugged his first three-run shot and graduate catcher Peter Burns (Reading, Mass.) left the yard with a two-run long ball.

Graduate right-hander Andrew Roman (Monson, Mass.) got the win in three-shutout innings of relief. Roman (3-0) allowed just one base runner and struck out six.

·       Trailing 9-2, the Eagles hit three home runs in the sixth to make it a one-run game. Vetrano (leadoff), Wang (three-run) and Burns (two-run) all went yard in the inning.
·       Vetrano and Cimini walked ahead of Wang's go-ahead, three-run homer in the eighth.
·       Roman struck out two in the ninth, including the final out of the game, to cap his three-inning, six-strikeout win.

·       Wang is the first Eagle with six or more RBI in a game since Vetrano against Merrimack (3/30/22).
