Boston College Sweeps Two-Game Set vs. Villanova

No. 17 Eagles take down old Big East foe.
BRIGHTON, Mass. – No. 17 Boston College baseball finished off a two-game sweep of Villanova with a 12-3 win at the Harrington Athletics Village on Sunday afternoon. The win moved the Eagles to 32-16 on the season.

For the second day in a row, the Wildcats (13-34) scored in the top of the first to put BC in an immediate hole. Boston College responded by scoring in each inning between the second and fifth innings, scoring 10 unanswered runs until Villanova plated two in the sixth.

Junior right-hander John West (Shrewsbury, Mass.) dominated the Wildcats after allowing a run in the first. West (4-3) struck out a career-high nine with no walks and just three hits allowed.

Junior right fielder Patrick Roche (Milton, Mass.) powered the BC lineup with three RBI on a 3-for-4 effort, including a two-run double. Senior second baseman Vince Cimini (Scranton, Pa.) added a 3-for-5 game with a run scored. The Eagles' final run of the game came on a solo home run by senior center fielder Barry Walsh (Sterling, Mass.), who scored three times, walked twice and drove in two runs.

Villanova first baseman Jack O'Reilly went 3-for-4 with two runs and three doubles.
