BC goes to 19-22, Dunning pitches eight innings in down to the wire game
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS – Boston College Softball lost to Duke 4-2 in extra innings on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles are now 19-22 on the season and 2-13 in the ACC and the Blue Devils improve to 36-8 overall and a 13-5 conference record.
Each team's offense started quick in the first inning, after Duke took a 2-0, BC responded immediately with two runs of their own on a huge two run double from Freshman Meg Schouten despite two outs in the inning and an 0-2 count.Â
After the quick start at the plate for both sides, both teams struggled the rest of the way to get on the board all the way until the ninth inning as Duke clinched a 4-2 win.Â
Sophomore pitcher Abby Dunning got the start in the circle for BC, she pitched eight of the nine innings and recorded four strikeouts. For Duke, Jala Wright got the win, she had six strikeouts and allowed just two hits.Â
BC will be back in action on Wednesday to take on Providence at 4 p.m EST.Â
