Five Eagles Drive in Runs as BC Takes Down No. 20 UConn

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 14 Boston College baseball team led the whole game for their eighth Top-25 win of the season, taking down the No. 20 Connecticut Huskies 6-3 on Tuesday evening. The Eagles improved to 18-5 with their second straight top-25 win.Â
After a scoreless first, Boston College took the lead with Nick Wang driving in Patrick Roche on a double-play ball. Facing runners on first and second in the bottom of the frame, the Eagles turned a 4-3 inning-ending double play to remain on top.Â
The bats came alive in the fourth, started by a Roche double. Peter Burns, Cohl Mercado, and Barry Walsh all added RBI singles, as all nine Eagles got to the plate, chasing the Huskies' starter and going up 5-0.Â
Freshman A.J. Colarusso finished his start after three innings, striking out two and allowing just two hits over his scoreless outing, earning his first win of the season (1-1).
The Eagles tacked on an insurance run in the ninth, courtesy of a Roche RBI-single. Andrew Roman earned his fifth save of the season, facing the minimum in the bottom of the ninth to seal it.
Roche and Burns each logged two hits and a RBI on the day.Â
