Eagles Close Out Season Series at Wake Forest on Tuesday

BOSTON COLLEGE VS. WAKE FOREST - ALL-TIME SERIES

Today's game marks the 31st meeting between the two schools. BC is 16-14 all-time vs. Wake Forest, dating back to 1980-81.
In ACC regular season play, the series is tied, 13-13. Wake has won the last four in the regular season, including an 85-63 decision at Conte Forum on Jan. 14.
The Eagles last win over the Demon Deacons was an 82-77 overtime victory in the second round of the 2022 ACC Tournament in Brooklyn.

POST SIMPLY SPECTACULAR

Since returning to the Boston College lineup 16 games ago, Quinten Post has emerged as one of the top big men in the country.
Post is slightly under the 50/40/90 line for the season: 53.9% field goals; 44.7% 3-pointers; 87.2% free throws.
He is the only player nationally posting those percentages (min. 10.0 ppg) in 2022-23.
Since 1996-97, only one other player - Thomas Welsh of UCLA in 2016-17 - has posted those season averages (min. 10.0 ppg)
Through 16 games - all in ACC play - Post is averaging 15.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game.
Post is one of 12 players nationally to post those per game averages.
In ACC-only stats, Post ranks 14th in scoring, 13th in rebounding, seventh in blocks, sixth in FG%, and sixth in FT%.
He ranks 51st nationally - and fourth in the ACC - in points-rebounds-assists per 40 (PAR/40), with a metric of 35.2.
His effective FG% of 59.8% ranks 41st nationally and is also fourth-best in the ACC.
Post has scored 20 or more points on six occasions and has reached double figures in 12 of his last 14 outings.
He was a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc at Florida State - the first 7-footer to be perfect from the perimeter (min 5 FGM) since Norbertas Giga (Jacksonville State) went 5-for-5 vs. Louisville in the 2017 NCAA Tournament on March 17, 2017.
On Feb. 11, he was 9-of-11 from the floor, good for 20 points against #22/22 N.C. State.
The 81.8% single-game shooting percentage was the fifth-best mark in the ACC this season (min. 10 FGA)
In the win at Virginia Tech, Post logged his second double-double of the season with 24 points and 10 boards.
Post had career-highs of 29 points and 14 boards at Notre Dame, following that up with 22 vs. Louisville and 24 at Virginia.
He is one of two players in the ACC - and 28 nationally - to register a 29-point/14-rebound double-double this season.
Post is the first BC player since Ky Bowman from Feb. 28-March 8, 2018 to score 22 or more points in three consecutive games.
He is also the first BC player since Bowman in 2018-19 to register two double-doubles with 24 points or more.
In the 12 games without Post, BC averaged 64.3 points per game, while connecting on 41.3% from the floor, 26.6% from the perimeter, and 67.1% from the FT line - with a 0.79:1 assist/turnover rate.
In the 16 games with Post, BC is averaging 67.8 points (+3.5 ppg), is connecting on 44.9% of its field goals (+8.7% increase), 35.7% from beyond the arc (+34.2% increase), and 76.8% from the FT line (+14.5% increase) - with a 1.15:1 ATR.

NOTABLES FROM THE VIRGINIA WIN

It marked the first win over a top 10 opponent since Dec. 9, 2017, when BC downed #1 Duke, 89-83.
Boston College held Virginia to 48 points - tying the season-low for points by an opponent (Wyoming).
The Eagles' 15-point margin of victory over UVA tied for the biggest of the season (George Mason).
The starting backcourt of Makai Ashton-Langford and Jaeden Zackery combined for 28 points, seven boards, eight assists (two turnovers), a blocked shot and five steals. They posted EFF ratings of 24 and 17, respectively, and were each +19.
After 11 first half turnovers - and two within the first 3:40 of the second half - BC did not commit a turnover over the final 16:22.

NOTABLES FROM THE FLORIDA STATE WIN

Boston College's 75-69 win at Florida State on Feb. 18 marked the first win in Tallahassee for the Eagles since Feb. 11, 2007.
The Eagles led by 19 points in the first half - the largest lead of the season for BC in ACC play.
Quinten Post was 5-for-5 from 3-point land - becoming only the sixth BC player to go 5-for-5 or better from the perimeter.
Devin McGlockton was 10-of-10 from the foul line in the win; the 20th BC player since 1996-97 to be perfect from the FT line (min. 10 FTA). He is only the third BC freshman to go at least 10-for-10 from the foul line (Troy Bell 2x, Patrick Heckmann).
Boston College committed a season-high 21 turnovers; the first time that BC won an ACC game when committing at least 20 turnovers. Dating back to 1996-97, BC is 21-32 when committing 20 or more turnovers.

DEFENSIVE PROWESS IN RANKED WINS

Boston College held #6/6 Virginia to 48 points on Feb. 22 and #20/23 Clemson to 54 points on Jan. 31.
It ranks tied for the first and fifth-lowest point totals by a ranked opponent in the shot clock era, respectively.
On Feb. 19, 2011, Boston College also held #19 North Carolina to 48 points in the scoring column.
The 48 points by UVA was 21 points below its season average; the 54 points were 20 below Clemson's season average.]

FREE THROW DISCREPANCIES

In ACC play, Boston College is averaging 14.3 trips to the free throw line, while opponents are getting to the line 15.4 times.
In ACC losses, BC opponents hold a +4.0 advantage in free throw attempts; 11.0 for the Eagles and 15.0 for opponents.
On Feb. 14 at Pittsburgh, the Panthers made 19 trips to the foul line to only nine for the Eagles.
On Feb. 4, Syracuse held a 24-4 advantage in free throws attempted. On Jan. 7, Duke held a 19-7 edge from the foul line.
BC is connecting on 76.4% (197-258) from the charity stripe during ACC play - up from 66.5% (117-176) in the non-conference.
During ACC play, the Eagles rank fourth-highest as a team in FT% in ACC play, while ranking 13th in FT attempts.

ALLOW ME TO RE-INTRODUCE MYSELF

Boston College is 5-0 when Jaeden Zackery scores at least 15 points in a game this season.
On Jan. 25, Zackery scored 14 of his 15 points in the second half (5-8 FG; 3-3 3FG) in a win over Louisville.
Zackery scored 14 of his season-high and game-high 18 points in the second half in the win over Notre Dame on Jan. 3.
Prior to scoring 16 points vs. Wyoming, he had tallied 11 points in his previous two games - including a season-low four points against Tarleton State, going without a field goal for the first time in his career to that point (39 games).
He also had 16 points against Stonehill, knocking down 3-of-6 from the perimeter.
When Zackery goes to the free throw line at least five times, Boston College is 6-1 in 2022-23 and 8-2 all-time.
Against Wyoming (8-8) and Rhody (7-8), he went to the free throw line 16 times, connecting on 15.
He was a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line in the win at Florida State.
Zackery has been BC's high scorer on six occasions and ranks third in scoring (10.1) since the return of Quinten Post.

BIG 3 OVER THE LAST 12

Quinten Post (17.5 ppg), Makai Ashton-Langford (12.1), and Jaeden Zackery (9.8) are averaging nearly a combined 40.0 points over the last 12 games for Boston College. That accounts for nearly 55% of the Eagles' scoring during that span.

PRINCE DOESN'T SHY AWAY FROM BIG MOMENTS

Despite being a freshman, Prince Aligbe does not shy away from big moments in his first season with the Eagles.
Aligbe scored eight of his 10 points in the second half of the win over #22/23 Clemson.
He scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half vs. ND on Jan. 3, including a jumper with 2:32 left, making it 61-60.
Five of his 12 3-pointers have come in crucial moments - a buzzer-beating 3FG to end the first half and spur on the comeback against #20/21 Virginia Tech; a 3-pointer in the corner with 1:24 left in regulation to make it a one-point game at home vs. #16/14 Duke; a 3-pointer with 7:13 left at Notre Dame, ending a 22-7 Irish run and giving BC the lead for good.
He drilled two 3-pointers in the second half at Virginia Tech, helping BC build its largest lead - 15 - twice.

McGLOCKTON ONE OF ACC'S TOP FRESHMEN RESERVES

Among ACC freshmen who have come off the bench in 75% of their games, Devin McGlockton ranks second in the league in scoring (6.3) and third in rebounds (4.1). The 6-7 forward earned his first start of the season on Jan. 31 against Clemson.
The 6-7 redshirt freshman is playing his first season of college ball and has scored in double figures on eight occasions.
He entered the starting lineup on Jan. 31 vs. #22/23 Clemson and is averaging 7.5 points in 21 minutes as a starter.
On Feb. 18 at Florida State, he tallied 16 points, seven boards, and two blocked shots in 26 minutes.
McGlockton scored 12 of his 16 points in the final six and a half minutes of play, making two FG and eight FT.
The Cumming, Ga. product made 3-of-4 field goals and 10-of-10 free throws - the first time BC player made at least 10 free throws without a miss since Derryck Thornton was 11-for-11 from the FT line in a win over N.C. State on Feb. 16, 2020.
On Dec. 21, McGlockton scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half to help lead BC over #20/21 Virginia Tech.
Six of those 13 second half points came during a key 8-0 run, helping BC build a nine-point lead with under 5:00 to play.
On Nov. 30 at Nebraska, McGlockton logged his first career double-double, with 20 points and 11 boards.
Boston College is 9-2 when he blocks at least one shot and 6-2 when he plays 20 minutes or more.
McGlockton ranks second in FG% (55.5%) effective FG% (57.6%), and true shooting percentage (62.2%).
Against Rhode Island, McGlockton scored the evental go-ahead basket with 1:07 remaining in the game.
He also sealed the victory with two free throws with eight seconds remaining; scoring six of his 11 points in the final 1:40.
Against Wyoming, McGlockton had 12 points (5-8 FG; 2-3 3FG), four rebounds, an assist, a steal, and three blocks.
The last player to post a similarly complete stat line - Steffon Mitchell against Duke (12p/5r/1a/1s/3b).
McGlockton is the first Boston College player in at least 26 years to post that stat line coming off the bench.
