Eagles Stifle FAU To Close Out First Day of Joan Joyce Classic
February 24, 2023 | Softball
BC wins 2-1 against Florida Atlantic and improves their record to 7-5 on the season.
BOCA, RATON, FLA– Boston College beat FAU on Friday afternoon. The Eagles won 2-1 and improved their season record to 7-5 while the Owls moved to 5-6 overall.
It was a pitching dual for much of this one, as both teams weren't able to muster much at the plate. A key moment to secure the win for BC was after Junior Erika Andal and Freshman Aleyah Terrell stole second and third base, Freshman catcher Maycee Hit was able to bring both home off a base hit to make it a 2-0 lead.Â
FAU hit a home run to get one back in the fourth inning to bring the score to 2-1 however Sophomore pitcher Abby Dunning and the BC defense were able to hold strong and get the win in the final moments of the seventh inning.Â
Dunning pitched a complete game and recorded seven strikeouts, allowing only two hits in 24 at bats and seven innings. She is now 2-0 so far this season.Â
BC Softball will be back tomorrow for another game against FAU at 4:30 p.m EST followed by a game against Villanova at 7:00 p.m EST.Â
