BC Prepares For Joan Joyce Classic

BOCA RATON, FLA -- Boston College Softball will compete in the Joan Joyce Classic this weekend, hosted on the campus of Florida Atlantic University. The Eagles will play games against Wisconsin and FAU on Friday, a second game against FAU on Saturday along with a game under the lights against Villanova and then will finish out the weekend on Sunday with another against Villanova.

Last weekend in Fort Myers, the Eagles took part in the FGCU Tournament. Where they went 2-3 on the weekend with wins against Lipscomb and Middle Tennessee on Friday and then losses to Middle Tennessee, FAU and FGCU on Saturday and Sunday. Hannah Slike was a standout performer for BC throughout the weekend, she compiled seven hits, five runs scored, two 2b's and an RBI with a batting average of .412 in five games played and 17 total at bats. Abi Knight continued her great start to the season as well with five hits, four runs scored, 6 RBI and a homerun with a batting average of .278 in five games played and 18 total at bats.

History Against This Weekend's Opponents

Wisconsin- Friday's game will be just the third time the Badgers and Eagles have faced off, the all time series is tied at 1-1 with the most recent matchup coming in 2017 where BC won 4-1.

FAU - Before last weekend's game, The Eagles had faced the Owls six times since the inception of the BC Softball program in 1984, the series had been tied at 3-3 but is now 4-3 in favor of FAU after last weekends game between the two schools where the Owls won 6-4.

Villanova - Boston College is 18-23 all time against the Wildcats, the most recent matchup between the two teams came last year during the 2022 season where BC won 4-3.

After returning from Boca, BC Softball will head out west next weekend for a three game series against UC San Diego.
