BC used an 8-1 second half to pull away from No. 23 UMass for a 16-6 win on Wednesday. Seven different players scored and five found the back of the net at least twice. A second Eagle scored five goals in as many contests, where Kayla Martello fired in a career-high five scores with one assist, tying her personal best with six points. Mallory Hasselbeck netted her first-career hat trick with three scores and the trio of Courtney Weeks, Cassidy Weeks, and Mckenna Davis tallied two goals.Â

A Balanced Attack
It's been a balanced offense through the first two games of the season, as nine players have scored while seven have found the back of the net at least twice. Two players in Jenn Medjid and Martello each have five-score affairs. The Eagles have won 22 straight games when a player scores at least five goals. Mckenna Davis leads the team with 10 points (4 G, 6 A), and is one four players with at least five points.
Stingy Defense
The defense has been on point in the first two games of the season, allowing just nine goals. BC has totaled 24 caused turnovers, 27 ground balls and 30 draw controls. The Eagles are 35-2 since 2017 when forcing 10 or more turnovers. BC's two goalkeepers in Rachel Hall and Shea Dolce have also gotten the job done. The duo have combined for a .679 save percentage with 19 saves. Dolce boasts an .833 save pct. in 30 minutes of action while Hall's save percentage is .636 in 90 minutes.Â
Eagles Climbing Up the All-Time Ranks
After Medjid's five goals against USC, the graduate student is fifth in school history in goals scored, surpassing Sarah Mannelly's 173. Rachel Hall is now fifth in program history with 339 saves at BC.Â
Scouting Northwestern (1-1, 0-0 B1G)
- The Wildcats are 1-1 after falling to No. 4 Syracuse in the season opener before defeating No. 14 Notre Dame on Thursday.
- Izzy Scane registered 10 goals in the win over the Fighiting Irish. She has scored 15 goals since returning from a torn ACL.Â
- NU has been a tough out at home, where it has 21 straight games and 11 inside Ryan Fieldhouse.
-Â Northwestern was picked to finish second in the BIG Preseason poll after finishing 16-5 and advancing to the Final Four.
The Eagles are 6-3 all-time after winning the last two matchups against the Wildcats. During those two wins, BC has averaged 20 goals in the victories. Last season, BC captured an 18-9 triumph.
