
Dunning's No-Hitter Propels Eagles Past Illinois State

TAMPA, FLA– Boston College began their season on Friday in the USF Tournament. The Eagles took on the Illinois State Redbirds in the first game of the season and will later face South Florida this afternoon.
In game one of the day, Sophomore Abby Dunning got the start for BC, She recorded a no hitter with 8 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched. This was her first game of her career pitching all seven innings and her first no hitter in her career.Â
The Eagles offense started quick with a 4-0 lead after three innings off 2 RBI and a double from Junior Erika Andal and also a double from Senior Abigail Knight. Sophomores Darien McDonough and Hannah Slike and Junior Elisabeth Laviolette all scored runs for BC as well. BC's defense was able to then keep the Redbirds offense off the board in the final innings of the game.Â
