Eagles Open Up Indoor Track and Field Season with Two Meets

Five Eagles break school records as the Eagles compete in two meets in Boston
BOSTON, Mass. — Boston College men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University, as well as the Suffolk Relays at the TRACK at new balance on Saturday morning.Â
SHARON COLYEAR-DANVILLE SEASON OPENER
The Eagles competed at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season opener at Boston University against some of the top schools and athletes in the region and the country. Boston College had at least one athlete compete in a total of 14 running events throughout the meet.
Boston College had a lot of success at BU on Saturday. The Eagles had 16 top-ten placements in the events that they took part in. This includes eight top-five finishes, four top-two finishes, and one first place finish. The Eagles also broke five school records, and had seven times that are top-ten in school program history. Â
On the Men's side Junior Eddie Kelly led the Eagles with the highest placement at the meet, placing first overall in the Men's 600 run with a time of (1:19.25). Kelly's time of 1:19.25 gives him the school record for the Men's 600m.Â
Peter Fox and Damon Frabotta both finished second overall in their events. The junior Fox crossed the line with a time of 14:07.32 in the Men's 5000 run, while Sophomore Frabotta had a time of 34.11 in the Men's 300 run. Fox set the school record for the Men's 5K (5000m), and Frabotta set the school record for the Men's 300m.Â
The Eagles had three runners place in the top-seven in the Men's 1000 run. Senior Spencer Pett led the way finishing fourth with a time of 2:27.96. Sophomore Owen Pett crossed the finish line in sixth (2:29.97), while sophomore Ryan Murray came in seventh with a time of (2:31.06).Â
The Eagles had three runners on the Men's side break into the school's top-ten times in their event. Senior Steven Jackson is now No. 3Â all time in school history in the Mens 3000m with a time of 8:03.84. Colin Kravitz is now No. 4 all time in the Men's 300m with a time of 34.87, while Stephen Colleran is No. 6 (35.05).Â
On the Women's Side, Freshmen Yaroslava Yalysovetska and Kylee Benard led the way for the Eagles, both finishing second in their events. Yalysovetska finished with a time of 1:30.11 in the Women's 600 run, which gives her the school record in this event. Bernard completed the Women's 300 run with a time of 39.16, which also gives her the school record. Â
The Eagles had three other runners place in the top-ten of the Women's 300 run. Kyla Krawczyk placed third overall (39.38), Anna Becker placed fourth (39.88), and Kyla Palmer finished 10th (40.53).Â
Freshman Anna Sonsini shined throughout the day for the Eagles. Sonsini placed seventh overall in the Women's 60 Dash Prelims with a time of (7.92), which was good enough for her to advance to the finals. The Freshman placed sixth overall in the Women's 60 Dash, crossing the line at 7.88.Â
The Eagles had five runners on the Women's side break into the school's top-ten times in their event. Senior Kyla Krawczyk is now No. 2 all time in school history in the Women's 300m with a time of 39.38. Anna Becker is now No. 4 all time in the Women's 300m with a time of 39.88, while Anna Sonsini is No. 7 in the 60m with a time of 7.88. Natalie Millerova broke into the top-ten as well, as she is now No. 3Â in school history in the Women's 3000m with a time of 9:12.44. Kyla Palmer is no. 7 all-time in the 300m with a time of 40.53.

Junior Molly FitzPatrick led the Eagles on the day with a top place finish in the Women's 3000m run. FitzPatrick finished with a time of 10:08.29, which was 14 seconds ahead of second place Madeline Till from the University of Rhode Island (10:22.36).Â
The Eagles earned two top 10 finishes in the Women's 1000m run with junior Gabriella Bachiochi (3:03.86) crossing the finish line in third place, and Senior Caroline Fleming placing sixth overall with a time of 3:07.18.Â
Sophomores Erin Finley and Skyler Safriet both competed in the Women's 60m Hurdles prelims. Finley finished in 24th place with a time of 10.28, and Safriet came in 32nd with a time of 10.50.Â
Lila Belsher shined in the Women's High Jump, placing sixth overall out of 25 jumpers. The Senior finished with a score of 1.55m, 5' 1", which was one of the best scores throughout the meet.Â
Finley and Safriet both also competed in the Women's Long Jump. Finley placed 23rd overall with a score of 4.77m, 15' 7Âľ. Safriet came in 35th with a score of 4.30m, 14' 1ÂĽ".Â
