Eagles Suffer First Loss of Season in Kansas City

BC drops 86-74 decision to Colorado State in opening game of National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Classic
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Boston College suffered its first loss of the season, dropping an 86-74 decision to Colorado State in the opening game of the 2023 National Collegiate Basketball Hall o Fame Classic.
Quinten Post led all scorers with 22 points, as four Eagles reached double figures in the loss. Claudell Harris Jr. had 13 points, while Jaeden Zackery added 11 and Prince Aligbe 10.
A back and forth affair through the first three and a half minutes, a layup from Post made it 10-10 with 16:23 to go in the first half. CSU would open up a 10-point lead, using a 12-2 run over the next 3:00 to make it 22-12. The Rams would lead by as many as 14 in the opening frame and held a 37-28 lead at the break.
Trailing 60-50 with 13:43 to play, the Eagles used a 6-0 push to chip away at the Colorado State lead. An alley oop from Zackery to Devin McGlockton got BC within four - 60-56 - with 11:38 left. Two free throws from Zackery with 9:11 to go made it 65-61 but the Eagles would get no closer.
BC connected on 47.1% (24-51) from the floor and a perfect 20-for-20 from the charity stripe. The Eagles made 6-of-16 from beyond the arc.
The Eagles return to action tomorrow - Thanksgiving Thursday (Nov. 23) - taking on either Creighton or Loyola Chicago at 1:30 p.m. ET (12:30 p.m. local) on CBS Sports Network.
