BC Drops Second Straight; Falls 71-68 to Loyola Chicago

Quinten Post tallies 25 points and nine boards and was named to the all-tournament team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Boston College dropped its second game in row, falling late to Loyola Chicago, 71-68, at the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Classic. Â BC led by as many as nine points - 66-57 - with 3:53 before the Ramblers closed out the game on a 14-2 run. Â With the loss, the Eagles fell to 4-2 on the season.
Quinten Post led all scorers with 25 points.  He made 11-of-21 shots from the floor to go with nine rebounds, two assists, a blocked shot, and a steal. Post was named to the all-tournament team, averaging 23.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists over the two games.
The first half was a tightly contested 20:00, with four ties and three lead changes. Â Tied at 20-20 after a putback by Post, Loyola scored the next five points to take a 25-20 lead with under six minutes to play. Â BC would chip away, getting within one after Devin McGlockton's layup off an offensive board made it a 28-27 deficit with 3:38 left in the period. Â The Ramblers scored seven straight to take an eight-point lead - 35-27 - before a Chas Kelley III 3-pointer closed out the half with the Eagles down 35-30.
Boston College tied it up less than a minute and a half into the second half, as McGlockton hauled in the throw-ahead pass from Claudell Harris Jr. for the dunk, making it 36-36. Â Loyola would push its lead back to five on its next two possessions and held onto the lead until a Kelley 3-pointer tied it at 49-49 with 12:13 remaining.
BC would build its nine-point lead over the next 8:40, after two Jaeden Zackery free throws made it 66-57 Eagles with 3:53 left on the clock. Â From there, Boston College would miss its next eight field goal attempts as the Ramblers tied it with 1:50 to go and took the lead for good with 57 seconds remaining.
McGlockton was the lone other Eagle in double figures, with 13. Â Harris had nine points, while Kelley came off the bench to tally a season-high eight. BC connected on 42.2% from the floor and only 4-of-23 from beyond the arc .
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 29 when they head to Vanderbilt. Â Tipoff is set for 9:15 p.m. and the game will air live on SEC Network as part of the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge.
