Old Dominion Thwarts Comeback Effort with Late Goal

Eagles battled back to tie game in fourth before ODU sealed it
NEWTON, Mass. -- The Eagles' comeback effort came up just short on Sunday afternoon, with No. 19 Old Dominion (1-1) breaking the tie late in the fourth to take down the Eagles 3-2. Boston College (1-1) was coming off a decisive 5-0 win over Providence in their season opener yesterday, but will head into the B1G/ACC Challenge at .500.
Freshman goalie Carine Van Wiechen had a strong debut yesterday, and followed it up with a scoreless first half today. Old Dominion broke the tie with ten minutes left in the third quarter. After going down 2-0, goals from Victoria Arra (2) and Mia Garber (1) brought the game back to even before Old Dominion closed it out.Â
The Eagles will look to regain their momentum next Friday when the B1G/ACC Challenge kicks off, hosting Maryland on Friday and defending champs Northwestern on Sunday.Â
