Mitchell Set to Race in 800m at NCAA East Prelims

Due to impending storms in Bloomington, the trial heats have been moved to 3:50 p.m.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Katherine Mitchell races in today's first round of the 800m on at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Round in Bloomington, Ind.
The race was originally set to begin at 7:50 p.m., but due to storms in the Bloomington area, the meet schedule has been adjusted and the 800m trials will begin at 3:50 p.m. Mitchell will race in the sixth and final qualifying heat of the 800m. Twenty-four athletes - the top three in each heat, plus the next six fastest - will advance to Saturday's quarterfinal round. Â
Three other BC athletes are also set to compete on Saturday - Kylee Raftis in the 3,000m steeplechase and Lauren White and Anna Oeser in the 5,000m. Raftis is seeded 40th in the 3,000m steeplechase, running a time of 10:20.83 at the Friar Invitational on April 8. She will race on Saturday, May 28 at 5:40 p.m. ET.
White and Oeser will compete in the 5,000m. White enters with the 14th-best time - 15:54.86, at the Virginia Challenge on April 22. Oeser is seeded 32nd, with a time of 16:06.32, also set at the Virginia Challenge. That race is set to start at 8:10 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 28.
