Earns automatic spot in national championship after third place finish in her heat (2:04.53)

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Katherine Mitchell advanced to the semifinals of the 800m at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship. She will compete at the national championship meet on Thursday, June 9 at 7:14 p.m. PT (10:14 p.m. ET) in Eugene, Ore.

Mitchell placed third in her quarterfinals heat on Saturday night at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, clocking a time of 2:04.53 and advancing automatically to historic Hayward Field for nationals. The time was Mitchell's second-best career performance in the 800m. She used a 2:04.67 time in the prelims to advance to Saturday's quarters.

In other results on Saturday night, Anna Oeser placed 26th in the 5,000m, running a time of 16:19.09. Lauren White was 42nd, in a time of 16:52.77.

Kylee Raftis was 37th in the 3,000m steeplechase, running a time of 10:34.92.
